About Afer Surf

A small surf house in Imsouane, open since 2019.

After months along the coasts of Southeast Asia, Europe and Bali, Zak shared a dream with his friend Ayoub: open a surf house in Imsouane that would feel like the best places they'd stayed — small, social, and right by the wave. In 2019 it opened its doors.

We know what a traveller wants because we were the traveller.

Afer Surf is a hostel with a family vibe and an unforgettable surf experience in the beautiful town of Imsouane. We know exactly where a traveller wants to stay during a trip because we've lived it ourselves — the hostels that felt like home, and the ones that didn't.

So we kept it small. Two dorms, two private rooms, a shared kitchen, and a rooftop where everyone ends up. Comfortable beds, real food, and a location you can find with your eyes closed: right off the main road into the village, a few minutes' walk from the Bay.

Morocco gets over 300 days of sunshine a year and Imsouane gets the swell to go with it. We're certain you're going to have a great time and leave with a few new friends. Most people come back.

What we do

Sleep, surf, food, trips. In that order, most days.

Surf school

Imsouane has one of the longest waves in the world and two very different spots. Our ISA‑certified instructor takes you from your first pop‑up to trimming down the line on the Bay — small groups, the right tide, and boards that suit your level.

The rooftop

Shaded, cushioned and open to the sky — breakfast, dinner and most of the evening happen up here. Mint tea, cards, whoever's staying that week. Nobody plans to spend their evening on the roof; everybody does.

Food, together

Breakfast is egg tagine, fruit and mint tea at 10. Most nights there's a family dinner — chicken tagine, couscous, grilled fish from the harbour. If we're not cooking, we all go out together.

Trips around Imsouane

Sat between Essaouira and Agadir, with the Atlas foothills behind us: waterfalls, the weekly souk, argan cooperatives, and a handful of surf spots for every level. We'll sort the transport.

Imsouane

A fishing village between Essaouira and Agadir.

No traffic lights, one main street, a harbour full of blue boats and a bay that produces rides of a minute or more. Cafés on the cliff, sunsets every night, and 300+ days of sun a year. We wrote a few guides to help you make the most of it.
