Five minutes from the wave
Imsouane's Bay is one of the longest rides in Africa — a slow, sandy‑bottomed wave that's perfect for learning and for longboards. Cathedral Point is right next door for when you want more.
The rooftop is the hostel
Long table, low cushions, someone's guitar and a tagine in the middle. Breakfast starts at 10 and dinner runs late — it's where a dorm full of strangers turns into people you travel with.

Why Afer Surf
Started by two friends who'd slept in a lot of hostels.
After months travelling the coasts of Southeast Asia, Europe and Bali, Zak and his friend Ayoub opened Afer Surf in 2019 — the kind of place they kept looking for and not finding. It's small enough that everyone eats together, close enough to the wave that you're in the water before breakfast, and looked after day to day by a team from the village.

Getting here, surf conditions, what to bring — the practical stuff.
How do I get to Imsouane?
Fly into Agadir (about 1 h 45 by car) or Marrakech (about 3 h 30). From Agadir, the easiest way is a grand taxi or a pre‑booked transfer; we can arrange one for you — just tell us your flight details when you book. From Essaouira it's about 1 h 30 by car. Local buses run to Tamanar, where you can pick up a taxi for the last stretch.
What are check‑in and check‑out times?
Check‑in is from 13:30 (14:00 for the standard double room) and check‑out is by 11:30. Arriving early or leaving late? We store your luggage for free, so you can still get a session in.
Is breakfast included?
Breakfast and dinner are available on request and served family‑style on the rooftop. Breakfast is usually egg tagine, fresh fruit, yoghurt, bread, tea and coffee. Most evenings there's a shared Moroccan dinner — tagine, couscous, grilled fish — and if we're not cooking, we all head into town together.
Can I rent a surfboard and wetsuit?
Yes. We have boards and wetsuits at the hostel and can sort out rentals by the day or for your whole stay. There are also several rental shops in the village if you want a specific board.
